Abstract

The article analyzes the roots of the origin of the main religious concepts and concepts, the reasons for the high position of the religious outlook in the human society, the complication of social relations and the history of the types of thinking opposing religious consciousness, as well as the reasons for the diminishing role of religion. At the initial stage of the history of the development of public consciousness, the primary function was the regulative function of religion, in connection with which religion as a social institution was the guarantor of the implementation of generally accepted norms and laws forthe public. Thus, religion, satisfying the needs of human life, led to the integration of society, setting the
standard of social behavior from day to day, reflected in the customs. The regulation of the social environment
through religious rites and rituals has become an integral part of human life and maintaining a
moral attitude has become a prerequisite for adapting to the environment. From time to time, for the purposes
of regulating, normalizing and observing the norms of human behavior, established prohibitions
and dogmas were formed. In the article, the propagation of Greek philosophy in prism by the Christian
religion in Europe is investigated as a necessary condition for inducing the process of secularization in
Europe. This shows that this process in the New Age, in the era of the Reformations and the Renaissance,
leads to a social rationalization of faith, based on rational and empirical evidence.
Key words: religion, secularization, rationalism, faith, deism, pantheism.
