According to forecasts,the countries of CentralAsia in the comingyears will entercriticallydiffi cult phaseof economic andpolitical development. Due to the expansionof military activity inAfghanistan andthe internationalcoalition forcessqueezingillegal armed groupsfrom Afghanistanthe countriesof the regionneed to strengthenborder securityin combatingcross-border threats. Knownunresolved regionalproblems(drug traffi cking, illegal migration, the use of water and energyresources) still remain their actuality.
