Investigation of numbers 6, 7 in Кazakh and Еnglish
Abstract
In this article the author reviews previous investigations of numbers 6, 7 in Kazakh and English. As such
it can be considered as continuation and analysis of prominent specialties on Turkic investigation such as V.V.
Bartold, V.V. Radloff, S.E. Malov, S.G. Kliashtornii, etc. works’ dedicated on that issue. Even though the paper
is based on linguistic methods of investigation, it makes possible to fi nd out some cultural prerequisites for
establishment of number concepts. Key words of the article are numeracy of Turkic people, system of counting,
etymology of number words and measure units, six pence.
