Abstract

The article reveals the problem of the influence of religious faith on the process of self-identification of a person in Kazakhstan. The position on the definition of the religious situation in the Republic as stable, which makes it possible to achieve the identification of one’s own self and its self, and the mood to strengthen the interethnic and interconfessional co-ordination, is argumented. The article shows the connection between identity and faith, the connection between self-identification of an individual and faith in a predestination is proved. Hence the relationship between representatives of religious trends is characterized by tolerance. The interconfessional agreement is promulgated by the policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev. It is also justified that the Islamic factor in the self-identification of the populations of Central Asia is of no small importance. This is also evident from the fact that for the designation of the word “nation” in most of the national languages of Central Asia, the word “millat” (for example, in Uzbek) is used, which in Arabic means a single religious community. And with the article “al-” – the Musulman community.
Key words: self-identification, believers, Islam, religion, tolerance, inter-confessional politics, Hanafi madhhab, Central Asia.
