Annotation: The article examines the stages of the formation of ethnomediation in Kazakhstan from 2011 to the present day. A review of modern conflictological theories has revealed some discrepancy between the principles of modern Western conflictological thought and the principles and values of the traditional Kazakh society striving to get rid of the conflict by all means. The authors made an attempt to classify the stages of development, describe and understand the features of the development of ethnomediation in Kazakhstan. The basic principles of modern Western conflictology are reflected and embodied in approaches to mediation in Kazakhstani society, however, there are also their own characteristics associated with the traditional values of the Kazakhs. The article emphasizes the importance of the institutionalization of social conflicts in the context of the modern development of Kazakhstani society.
