The missionary activity of Christianity: history and modernity

Abstract

At present, the research phenomena’s former methods and directions in the field of religion are insufficient for in-depth understanding and do not meet modern requirements with time expiration. In addition, due to the lack of a unified research programme on the development trends of modern religious processes in our country, especially the lack of information about results of foreign missionaries’ activity emphasizes the subject relevance. The article was written in the framework of the “Peculiarities of missionary activity in the Republic of Kazakhstan” project and the authors attempt to conduct a historical overview of the missionary activities conducted by foreign missionaries, their principles, strategies, main areas. The lessons of history prove that the results of the foreign missionaries’ activities are estimated incorrectly in the realities of modern Kazakhstan. As the activities of religious missions in our country is closely connected with the political, cultural, and economic processes. Therefore, the authors, supporting a secular, democratic policy, recommend measures to prevent spiritual expansion
